Mexico stated on Wednesday stated it had formally requested a report from U.S. authorities relating to alleged negligent practices in U.S. immigration detention facilities, citing accusations of sexual abuse and unauthorized hysterectomies.
The request comes after a criticism by a whistleblower nurse alleging that detainees in a Georgia immigration detention facility had improperly obtained hysterectomies and different gynecological procedures.
The criticism didn’t specify the nationality of the affected detainees.
In a separate case, the Mexican ministry stated its consulate in El Paso, Texas was involved with a Mexican girl and her lawyer after an allegation of sexual abuse by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) brokers.
It didn’t give extra particulars.
In August, ProPublica and The Texas Tribune reported allegations of a guard sexually abusing detainees together with a Mexican girl at an El Paso immigration detention heart. ICE on the time stated the accusations could be investigated.
The ministry stated each consulates had been looking for readability from U.S. authorities and attempting to establish any affected Mexicans.
