Robert John Steckle, “Bob”, handed away peacefully after a prolonged decline on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Trinity Village Care Centre.
Bob and his spouse Kay loved winters in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico the place they solid many friendships and noticed many whales.
A lifelong farmer and resident of Waterloo Area, he attended Williamsburg One-Room Faculty, Kitchener Collegiate Institute, and studied at Ontario Agricultural Faculty. He performed soccer on the College of Guelph Gryphon, the place he additionally took up the game of wrestling. He represented Canada as a light-heavyweight wrestler on the Helsinki, Melbourne and Rome Olympic Video games, and was a 12-time Canadian champion, and 2-time USA champion, incomes medals on the Pan Am and Commonwealth Video games. He has been inducted into the Waterloo County Corridor of Fame, Guelph Gryphons Corridor of Fame and the Canadian Wrestling Corridor of Fame.
