Trump announces executive order to ban TikTok

President Donald Trump on Friday advised reporters he’ll act as quickly as Saturday to ban Chinese language-owned video app TikTok from the US,  according to NBC News.

“So far as TikTok is worried we’re banning them from the US,” Trump stated.

In response to NBC, Chinese language firm ByteDance launched TikTok in 2017. The app has grown extra well-liked throughout the coronavirus pandemic, with 2 billion downloads in April, based on Sensor Tower. Opponents embrace Facebook and Snap.

ByteDance traders searching for to take over TikTok have valued it at $50 billion, Reuters reported earlier this week.

Microsoft declined to touch upon the talks, which had been first reported by Fox Business Network.
